Balthazar Crowley had long, shoulder length, black hair that flowed down his back. His deep blue eyes staring around the main hall of his Mansion. He had invited many to come to his Mansion, those that he had thought to be worthy of being part of the Great Hellspires Coven...Were they worthy? Were they prepared for the tests that he had prepared for them? Who knew...Who knew...Prince Balthazar Crowley walked to one of the tables that had many bottles of blood on it. He took one of them and spoke in his native Latin accent.
"Ahh, Roman Blood, ancient and wonderful...I haven't seen such beauty since the gladiatorial fights, oh that glorious age. I ponder if any of the people I have invited could remake such an event...I have high expectations but why should I not? I would not have invited them if I thought them to be worthless..." He smiled as he took a sip and let out a sigh of relief, he had to drink more of that delicious blood but he also had to wait. He had guests and he could not afford to drink all of it, that would be rude.
He had planned many events so that everyone could show their true potential...He glared at a sword to the side of his Throne and as he raised his hand the sword came to him. He smiled as he glanced at the handle of the sword and chuckled. Yes, this was going to be a grand day indeed! While he, the Prince, was not going to fight. Those that came would fight in many different ways. The tests were going to be challenging and brutal but, in their own way, very rewarding to the victors...
(This is a new post I have made so come on guys! Let us have some fun!)

Jonathan has picked out the most comfortable chair in the main hall and is currently sitting in the place where the light is best with his back to the wall. Right now he's got his nose in a book, which he seems to be reading faster than the average person could. The cover reads "Dabbling in Insanity: The Collected Works of G. L. Paulson" and has a picture of what appears to be a Rorschach test underneath a picture of two circles, a line, and a curve making up a smiling face. A backpack with a black metal water bottle sits next to it.

Balthazar waves his hand as the door to the main hall opens. The grand hall is lit by a grand chandelier with candles. There are also candles all around the Grand Hall which light up the Grand hall just perfectly. Balthazar smiles as he looks directly at Jonathan. "Ahh, you must be Jonathan...Yes, I had heard of your remarkable talents of solving problems and this interested me. Come, come, have a sip of blood, there are plenty of bottles to choose from...As you have probably figured out this invitation is a test, of sorts, to make sure that only the best get into Hellspires...Only the best are allowed to even consider working for me." Balthazar sipped from his bottle of Roman blood, smiling "I am going to do something that is rare of me, Jonathan. You are given a choice of tests. Depending on what your choice is will determine many things...Here is your choices." Balthazar cleared his throat, for a moment. "You may choose to fight a champion of humans, a strong man with a blade blessed by the Church...You may try and solve a riddle that I will speak and the riddle will be about the most dangerous of magics...You may also try to craft a weapon, armour or even clothing of your desire, all the tools are accounted for in that corner...OR, you may try and do something that I have not listed and may try and surprise me...Make your choice and go through the door to the right of my Throne...I will be able to see what you do..."
(So you know the rules, you basically have to tell me what you want your test to be, then go through the door and write it out - IF you go for the combat one I will not write how the fighter fights - but be aware that he is a true champion and has great skill. Make it seem so!)
"Now...Let the first real game...Begin." Balthazar grinned, oh how he longed for entertainment!

Jonathan seems to come out of a state of intense focus with a start. He spends a second replaying what Crowley said in his head before replying apologetically: "Oh, my apologies, I thought the test was the pile of books in your library. There were only about 42 out of place, so I used the system you had to put them back where they should have been." He holds up the book he was reading. The cover seems to move without shifting and the book's shadow quite clearly tries to flee before being pulled back in place. "This book's mine though, I don't borrow books from people I don't know without permission." Jonathan stands up, puts the book in his bag although the cover opens as if to prevent it, and zips it back up. He rubs the back of his head. "I'm not really the fighting type, if it needs to be done they shouldn't see it coming. I'm not really that well-versed in magic unless you count liking fantasy. As for crafting, my dysgraphia seems to have carried over from the previous section of my life so probably not. What do you have that needs doing?"

*Balthazar looks at the man, he was not a fighter, not good at magic and not a crafter...That left two options, a religious zealot or an intellectual.*
"Very well...The book on the far right is a book on blood magic, it is a beginners book but quickly advances into the more advanced levels of such magic. I think it would do you good to know the basics of such magics as such things can be useful, even if you don't use them. It is always good to know what your enemies can use against you. I must attend to some matters of the order, I will return soon. In the meantime, my wife will keep you company and make sure you don't do anything foolish...I trust her fully."
*Balthazar turns his head to one of the doors and grins.*
"Alythia, darling! Come here. I have an amusing guest you just have to meet!"
*Balthazar then looks at Jonathan, a look of sheer joy on his face.*
"Oh and a little hint...Don't try anything stupid. She will kill you for it."

*A very beautiful lady enters the room. She is very attractive and that strikes anyone. She has pure dark red hair that flows abundantly from her head in long velvety curls. Her expressive green eyes and fair skin suit her quite well. Her presence seems to shift the environment of the room, as if she somehow lit it. She is wearing a dark wine coloured vintage dress that shows off her splendid figure and her ability to move effortlessly and elegantly, even while wearing stylish black heels. In her hands there is a big, black book that she seems to be in the middle of reading, as one of her fingers is marking the page. As always, a smile is on her lips. She looks at her husband lovingly and starts heading towards him. She notices Jonathan and looks at him with a hint of curiosity in her eyes. Her expression is warm and welcoming. She makes you feel as if she has known you for a while. Then she looks at Balthazar and smiles.*
"Hello, love. I hear you want to introduce me to someone." *She looks back at Jonathan.* "My name is Alythia. I am Balthazar's wife. It's nice to meet someone new every now and again. I hope we can become good friends."

*Balthazar smiles at the love of his life. Admiring every feature of her. "I love the dress! Not the style that I first saw you in but it is still glorious on you...Then again, everything is glorious on you, my love." *Balthazar finds it hard to get his eyes off the woman he loves, but he turns to Jonathan reluctantly* "Alythia, this is Jonathan, he is taking the test of the book of blood magic and I have things that need to be done elsewhere. Be sure to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't look at the other books...And keep him far, far away from the top shelf. Remember what happened to the last intellectual we had."
*Balthazar walks towards Alythia and gives her a kiss then proceeds to his chambers...Yes, much work had to be done. But he wouldn't be long. Not too long anyway.*

*Jonathan flicks his eyes up and turns his head enough to see the newcomer before immediately going back to the new book. You can tell he's had a lot of practice multitasking when it comes to reading.* "Hello Alythia, nice to meet you." *He gets through several more pages before the last bit of what Balthazar said gets his attention.* "Wait, you keep dangerous writings in with the normal books?! At the very least they should be locked up, otherwise you're just asking for trouble. Oh, and just FYI, but I reshelved the books you had lying around in the library. I thought it was the test. But seriously, the top shelf is not a safe place. Somebody put a visual consent possession sigil on one of my PowerPoints and we didn't find out until after the meeting. We're still not sure who got possessed. Not that it's that important, it was just a Minor Eerie Presence Attachment, and those don't even count as minor violations." Jonathan's backpack shakes for a moment, as if something bulky inside it had shifted suddenly. Or his foot might have bumped it. A black mist rises from it for a moment before instantly dissapating, although that might just be something your eye. (What's the book Jonathan's reading about? Blood magic is a varied field.)

*Balthazar stops just before he enters his chambers and turns to Jonathan* "Yes, I do keep dangerous writings with the normal books...The way they were arranged was quite logical. The highest and second highest shelves are protected by a holy ward that only I can deactivate...It burns Vampires very quickly and is very deadly. Only the most respected of the intellectuals within Hellspires are allowed access to those books. Except the one on the far left, that is Rasputin's teachings and is reserved only for Alythia...Also, I am interested in what is in that Backpack of yours. I sense something strange and I do love the unnatural." *Balthazar walks into his chambers, grinning, the last thing you may see is dim lighting coming from the room and eerie music being played from within.* (Danse Macabre, if you want to know the song ) (The book that Jonathan is reading has two parts - Part 1: What toxics can survive in Blood - Part 2: Knowing how much blood is needed for certain rituals (basic teleportation, as seen in the demo clip, etc.)

"Huh, okay." *After Balthazar leaves Jonathan turns to Alythia.* "So it's not just me who notices it. I've had it checked and there's nothing magical about the book and it doesn't have any technology in it. It's honestly unnerving, but it's my book and a fun read." *Jonathan goes back to the book. At this point he should be at least 13 pages in unless there are pictures or complex terms.*

"I see you like books just as much as I do. That is a pleasant surprise." *She smiles. She loves this room. "I'll be in my corner - by the books - if you need me. Feel free to ask or share whatever you want." *She elegantly walks to a lovely sofa-like seat and curls up with her book. From that point she can view the entire room, thus supervising Jonathan as Balthazar had asked her to.*

"People can lie, but I find fixing words to paper makes it easier to see where the truth lies." Jonathan's backpack gives off silence. Not that it's making no sound, but it seems that area surrounding it seems to be devoid of sound and spreads a few feet before stopping and restarting. *Jonathan seems to be purposefully ignoring the backpack. He's calculating the minimum number of people he could safely draw blood from for the different spells. He starts humming. If you recognize it this is the song:

*Alythia recognises the song, smiles openly and starts humming along. She has a very nice voice.* "Yes, well, I find having someone who you can trust entirely refreshing in this world. I am lucky in that regard." *She pauses, she got through an interesting part of her book. Then, not taking her eyes off the pages she speaks.* "What's up with your backpack? It seems to be in a particular mood..."
(OOC - great song, we love it, and Voltaire in general. "This ship's going down" and "The Beast of Pirate's Bay" are some of our favourites, as is this one).

Jonathan reaches into his backpack and pulls out a book. The cover reads "Dabbling in Insanity: The Collected Works of G. L. Paulson" and has a picture of what appears to be a Rorschach test underneath a picture of two circles, a line, and a curve making up a smiling face. He then pulls out a bag of black powder, a smart phone connected to some hinged devices, and holds up the smart phone he had concealed in his hand. "Magnetic dust, some devices I found online, legerdemain and a bit of suggestion and look what I did. It's surprising how much you can do with a little stage magic. I wasn't that interested before unlife, but I had a lot more time in the evenings and slight of hand seemed like something fun to learn. I do apologize for the prank, but I find that "show not tell" is an excellent way to advertise my skills. People hear 'good at planning' or 'highly intelligent' and think I just have an inflated ego. This way was more fun for me anyway." Jonathan stands up, gives a small bow, and then sits again and resumes reading. The book he took out of his backpack sits next to it. Jonathan starts humming again and you get the feeling he knows he's doing it.

*Alythia looks at Jonathan. She looks amused.* "Well, I'm glad you found a way to advertise yourself. *She smiles, having thought of several dirty things that could've been said.* "I like it. Actions mean more than words to me, so I can empathise with you wanting to be sure that you are understood and appreciated for your value. I hope you do well, I'm sure Balthazar will appreciate having someone like you around. It makes for a nice change." *She pauses. She's contemplating whether she should offer some advice. She sees no reason not to.* "I'm sure you don't need it, but just in case you want a tip about how Balthazar and the Coven work, here it is. Balthazar is very... adaptable. He can adjust to almost anything you can throw him. As long as you are loyal and mean no harm to us, he'll find you the perfect spot, and may even change it if you so wish, as long as you express your preferences. If, however, there's a hint of ambiguity in your loyalties, it's not him you need to worry about." *She pauses and smiles, remembering what she had done to the last creature that wanted to mess with her husband.* "Please do not think I am in any way threatening you. I believe you will be a good addition to us, a friend even." *She means it. You can feel it coming from her.* "On another note, if you ever want to get access to a very different set of books, do inform me. I have private collections under my personal command... Once you are at the right level for them, I'll be happy to share some with you." *She stands up elegantly from her 'chaise lounge' like reclining sofa, which is a very beautiful enhanced replica of those used in Ancient times. After increasing lightly the lighting that affects her area, she reclines back. The vision of her in that chair is one that would be suitable for a painted masterpiece.* "Better." *She smiles. It's a good day for a book.*
